Banned Together: Our Fight for Readers’ Rights

This anthology brings together fourteen creators whose youth books have faced recent challenges in school and public libraries. Through essays, comics, short fiction, poetry, memoir, and other forms, they address censorship and book bans in the United States. The pieces connect their personal experiences to the work they make and examine how attempts to restrict books affect authors, illustrators, and young people. Contributors reflect on representing the varied realities of children’s and teens’ lives, including the country’s past and present, while considering what is at stake when access to books is limited.
