At the End of the Day

At day’s end, one family faces the accumulated frustrations of homework, piano lessons, chores, a doctor’s shot, a package meant for someone else, a fight with a friend, and a missing puzzle piece. When everyone is tired, bored, or in a mood, even small troubles can feel enormous. But the same evening also holds small shifts toward delight, including a good knock-knock joke and the return of the missing puzzle piece. The story follows a multiracial family through the challenges and pleasures that gather before bedtime.
