Afikomen
Tziporah Cohen
During a Passover seder, three children hide the afikomen and crawl beneath a blue tablecloth. On the other side, they emerge in ancient Egypt. Along the Nile, they see Moses’ mother and sister Miriam place the baby in a floating basket. The children help guide Moses away from danger as he travels downriver toward Pharaoh’s daughter, who will raise him. Before continuing, they share matzah with him. This wordless picture-book adventure connects a family seder with the biblical story of Moses.
