SIMON AND THE BETTER BONE
Corey R. Tabor
Simon, a small brown dog, finds a bone beside a pond and then notices its reflection in the water. Convinced that the reflected dog has a better one, Simon tries a series of contests, including a staring contest and tricks. When he leaps at the other dog, both bones are lost. Simon then finds another bone and places it in the water for his double, turning the encounter into a friendship. The story reshapes Aesop’s tale of a dog and its reflection with a different conclusion.
