A Drop of Hope

In Donnelly, Ohio, factory closures have left many families struggling. Fifth-grader Ernest Wilmette and his classmate Ryan discover a cave beneath the town’s wishing well, where they can hear people’s wishes. Ernest begins to believe that items from his late grandfather’s attic can help make those wishes come true. The wishes concern problems such as unemployment and an older sibling in trouble. Ernest also finds a long-unsolved mystery that he believes his grandfather wanted him to investigate.
