When My Brother Gets Home

A preschooler waits for her older brother to return from school and imagines the adventures they will have together. Her plans grow into grand versions of ordinary play: reading comic books in a tree becomes a comic-book convention, a playground slide becomes Mount Kilimanjaro, and cardboard boxes become the neighborhood’s biggest castle. She occupies herself with these imagined stories until he arrives. When he gets home, the siblings play together.
