What the Chickadee Knows (Great Lakes Books series)

What the Chickadee Knows is a poetry collection with poems in Anishinaabemowin and English. The poems address nature, relationships, history, and tradition while reflecting an Anishinaabe worldview. They were conceived first in Anishinaabemowin and then presented in English. In the preface, Margaret Noodin considers how the sounds of a chickadee may be heard differently depending on what listeners have been taught. An author’s preface accompanies the collection.
