Don Manuel and Doña Lila live in a one-room casita with their five children and many animals. Music draws neighbors to their door, and Don Manuel welcomes each new arrival with a bilingual invitation. As guests keep coming, the crowded house eventually collapses. The family’s friends and neighbors then gather to build them another home, one that has room for more visitors. The tale is a Latino retelling inspired by a Scottish ballad and set in a Mexican community.
