Twelve Days in May: Freedom Ride 1961

This nonfiction account follows the 1961 Freedom Ride, launched on May 4 by thirteen Black and white civil-rights activists. Over twelve days in the South, the riders protested segregated bus travel and confronted the continuing force of Jim Crow laws after Brown v. Board of Education. The book recounts the actions of participants of different ages and races during the ride. It also includes a bibliography, source notes, and an index.
