This Story Is Not about a Kitten

A girl, her mother, and their dog discover a hungry, dirty kitten hiding beneath a car. Their encounter begins a neighborhood rescue involving a man who offers milk, twins who bring a box, and others who help. The cumulative text repeats earlier people and actions as new contributors join the effort. Eventually the kitten is coaxed into the box, becomes clean and fed, and finds a home. The story is inspired by a kitten rescue in the author’s Brooklyn neighborhood.
