They Bloom at Night

After a hurricane, Noon and her mother survive in Mercy, Louisiana, where a red algae bloom has changed the water and its wildlife. They collect the altered creatures and trade them to the town’s corrupt harbormaster. As residents vanish and warnings circulate about shadows beneath the water and nighttime knocking, the harbormaster orders Noon to catch the being blamed for drownings. His daughter, Covey, becomes an uneasy partner in the search.
