The Owl and the Lemming

In this traditional Inuit tale, a young lemming emerges after winter and gathers moss to eat. A hungry young owl swoops down, blocks the entrance to her den, and intends to make her his meal. The lemming challenges him to see who can jump higher. Confident that his wings give him the advantage, the owl leaps upward, allowing the lemming to run inside and close her door.
