Yehuda “Hoodie” Rosen moves with his Orthodox Jewish family to Tregaron, near Philadelphia. His father plans housing for Orthodox families, while Mayor Monica Diaz-O’Leary blocks the project because she fears more Jewish residents will arrive. Hoodie develops a tentative connection with the mayor’s daughter, Anna-Marie, and they remove swastikas from Jewish graves together. Although devoted to his religious community, Hoodie begins questioning some of its rules. His friendship with Anna-Marie brings differing cultural expectations and a misunderstanding of her feelings.
