The Library in the Woods
Calvin Alexander Ramsey
After storms ruin the family farm, Junior moves to Roxboro, North Carolina, in 1959. As he adjusts to town life in the segregated South, new friends introduce him to books they borrow for enjoyment. Public libraries are segregated, but Junior discovers a log-cabin library in the woods serving the Black community. There he finds books by Black authors and checks out books for himself and both parents.
