Her sister Ted and Fen, a newcomer who doubts that explanation, try to learn where she went and locate her. The account moves among several people, including Thisbe, those who encountered her that night, and law-enforcement officials. As their partial knowledge begins to connect, the search reveals that Thisbe’s disappearance was a kidnapping.
