The Dubious Pranks of Shaindy Goodman
Mari Lowe
At her Orthodox Jewish day school, sixth grader Shaindy Goodman feels overlooked by classmates who neither openly bully her nor include her. When popular neighbor Gayil asks Shaindy to join in pranks, Shaindy is excited to receive her attention. As the High Holidays approach, the pranks become increasingly upsetting to their targets and teacher. Shaindy notices that the victims share a connection from summer camp, but Gayil eventually frames her for their wrongdoing, leaving Shaindy suspended, isolated, and seeking an explanation.
