The Bear Ate Your Sandwich
Julia Sarcone-‐Roach
An unidentified narrator explains a missing lunch with an unlikely account of a bear’s journey. The bear falls asleep in a truck full of berries and arrives in a city, which he experiences as a new forest. He explores fire escapes, brick walls, clotheslines, and garbage cans before becoming hungry and finding a sandwich on a park bench. In the final pages, the storyteller is revealed to be a small black dog speaking to a girl whose lunch is gone.
