Taro Gomi's Big Book of Verbs

This picture book presents action words through busy illustrated scenes in places such as classrooms, neighborhoods, farms, ice rinks, and amusement parks. On each spread, an indexed list of verbs corresponds to numbered moments in the picture. Children might be running, building, scattering, hopping, kneading, tickling, or reading. One classroom scene contains 34 labeled verbs, while the book as a whole depicts nearly 400. The images show the meanings of the words through characters’ actions, including humorous and energetic situations.
