Sidewalk Flowers
JonArno Lawson
A girl walks through city streets with her father, who is occupied with a phone call. She notices small flowers growing in cracks and beside buildings, gathers them into a bouquet, and leaves single blossoms beside a dead bird, a sleeping homeless man, and a leashed dog. As she makes these gifts, color gradually fills the world around her. At home, she gives her remaining flowers to her mother and brothers.
