Shoshi’s Shabbat

Shoshi, an ox, works on Simon’s farm for six days each week and rests on Shabbat, enjoying hay, water, and time with Simon’s grandchildren. When Simon can no longer plow, he sells her to Yohanan, who continues to work her for six days. On the seventh day, however, Shoshi refuses to go to the field. As this pattern continues, Yohanan notices Simon, Shoshi, and the family’s peaceful observance and begins to understand why she rests.
