Each summer, a girl’s family makes the same journey to a beachside motel for a weeklong vacation. The familiar trip includes winding roads, towns they pass through, and a Monday-night visit to the local bandstand. At the beach, the family carries towels, coolers, and umbrellas, then spends time in the waves and sand.
