Red: A Crayon’s Story
Michael Hall, illustrated by Michael Hall
Red has a paper label that says he is red, but everything he draws is blue. Other crayons expect him to make red strawberries and an orange picture with Yellow, yet he cannot do either. They try to correct him, while Red’s own self-portrait shows the truth that the others miss: he is blue beneath the wrong label. The story follows Red as he struggles with others’ expectations and points beyond labels and outward appearances.
