Presents through the Window

Taro Gomi, illustrated by Taro Gomi

On Christmas Eve, Santa looks through the windows of different houses to decide which gifts to leave. Die-cut pages initially limit the view, prompting him to mistake a stuffed kitten for a real one, geese for a zebra, and a large black bear for an empty house. Each page turn reveals the full room and the animal actually inside. Other mistaken glimpses include rabbits whose ears resemble crocodile teeth. Although Santa’s choices are based on incomplete information, the animals appreciate the unusual presents, and one error provides the bear with an extra gift.
