Picking Tea with Baba
Xu Bin, illustrated by Yu Yin, Shan Chen
A narrator and his brother travel with their parents to a tea garden on a mountain near their Chinese village. The family picks tea leaves, while the boys also notice birds, insects, fruit trees, honeybees, and snakes. A rainstorm interrupts the day, and at sunset the family sorts and bags the leaves before taking them to a tea factory to sell. The story follows work, family, and the landscape around the garden.
