Raven’s Ribbons
Tasha Spillett, illustrated by Daniel Ramirez
Raven loves joining round dances with his grandmother and other members of their Indigenous community. He watches the colorful ribbon skirts worn by girls and women, including skirts his grandmother has sewn, and wishes for one of his own. When he asks whether a boy can wear a ribbon skirt, his grandmother reflects on what she has known. By the next dance, she has made Raven a rainbow ribbon skirt.
