Penny and Her Sled
Kevin Henkes
Penny has a new sled but no snow. She watches and waits, trying ideas such as sitting on the sled indoors and wearing mittens to bed. When snow does not arrive, she turns the sled into an indoor bridge, bed, and magic carpet. Eventually she puts it aside. As warmer weather comes, Mama suggests waiting for snowdrops, the first spring flowers. Penny worries they may not appear either, but Mama assures her they will, and they do.
