Teenage Damsa flees a forced engagement and is taken by police officer Shauzia to Green Valley, a refuge operated by Parvana. When commercial flights stop and military flights are the only way out, Rafi and his aunt try to leave for the United States. After his father is killed, Rafi seeks to return home, while Parvana, Damsa, and the refuge’s residents flee the approaching Taliban.
