Not the Girls You’re Looking For

Lulu Saad is a Muslim American teenager in Houston and one of four close friends whose relationships are intense, loyal, and increasingly strained. Her father emigrated from Iraq, while her mother is from Louisiana, and Lulu also navigates complicated ties within her extended family and local Muslim community. As the friendships begin to unravel, she tries to understand what happened, where she must take responsibility, and where others owe it to her. The story follows her efforts to make sense of identity, family, friendship, and prejudice.
