Nathan grows up in a shtetl in Russia, where he is always singing. After hearing a famous opera soloist in a nearby town, he realizes the importance of music to him. Later, he leaves home to study opera, but boards the wrong boat and accidentally sails to New York City. This picture book follows Nathan’s journey within the Jewish immigrant experience of the early twentieth century.
