My Grandma and Me
Mina Javaherbin
In this autobiographical story set in Iran, Mina recalls daily life with her grandmother. Bread arrives at their third-floor apartment in a basket on a rope, and Mina plays while her grandmother prays or sews chadors. Mina’s neighbor Annette visits with her own grandmother, who is Mina’s grandmother’s close friend. Although the two older women practice Islam and Christianity, their friendship includes compassion and care for their granddaughters.
