Miss Betti, What Is This?

This account follows Miss Betti, a Detroit public-school lunch worker who saw that students were not receiving fresh, nourishing meals. She begins by adding foods such as apples and sweet potato fries to lunch trays, then expands the choices available in cafeterias. Miss Betti also starts an urban gardening program on vacant city lots, where students learn to grow fruits and vegetables for school salad bars.
