Make New Friends
Joshua David Stein
Tomasso is alone at recess after starting at a new school, so he gives names and drawn-on eyes to a pair of playground balls. Over the following weeks, his circle expands to include a milk carton, an eraser, a paper bag, and other objects. When his father asks whether he has made friends, Tomasso says that he has. His father then arranges a pizza night, leaving Tomasso anxious as he sets his inanimate companions around the table.
