Learning to Swear in America

As a large asteroid approaches Los Angeles, seventeen-year-old Russian physicist Yuri Strelnikov joins U.S. scientists trying to reduce its impact. During a break, he meets sixteen-year-old Dovie and encounters her unconventional family, including her brother Lennon, who uses a wheelchair. Yuri becomes frustrated when his carefully developed antimatter ideas are dismissed. When conditions change, he takes a major risk that helps avert disaster. Government officials then prevent him from returning home, leading Dovie and Lennon to devise a plan.
