Into the Light

After being separated from his family, Manny survives in the American Southwest by following rules he created for himself. He considers joining the traveling Varela family, while Carlos, their appealing but difficult son, seems to offer the possibility of a different future. Eli lives elsewhere in an isolated community shaped by family rules and the belief that obedience will bring rewards. Their circumstances bring survival, family separation, travel, and conflicting expectations into the book.
