Their stories include Fraidoon, an Afghan translator threatened with a fatwa; Nathan, a Karen person born in a Thai refugee camp; Nyarout, who grew up amid civil war in South Sudan; Shireen, a Yazidi woman captured and tortured by ISIS; and Diudonné, who fled violence in Burundi. Their experiences of home, trauma, culture, and support differ widely.
