Hoot Owl sets out at night to find dinner, relying on increasingly elaborate disguises. He dresses as a carrot to approach a rabbit and as an ornamental birdbath to try to catch a pigeon, but neither plan works. Undeterred by these failures, he continues to invent costumes and speaks grandly about his nighttime pursuits. His final disguise is a chef’s outfit, complete with a penciled mustache, and it helps him secure an inanimate pepperoni pizza instead of prey.
