Home in the Rain

Francie and her pregnant mother drive home from Grandma’s through heavy rain. During the trip, they stop for a picnic, watch rain through the car windows, and pass traffic, trucks, a fisherman, ducks, and people stopped after a fender-bender. Francie writes names into the fogged glass, leaving a space for the baby sister who has not yet been born. At a service-station stop, an idea gives the new baby her name, Grace. The journey ends at home, where Francie and her family reunite with Dad as the sun appears.
