Best friends Odo and Eleanor find a magical sword in the mud of a nearly dry riverbed near their village. Although Eleanor dreams of becoming a knight like her late mother, the sword knights cautious Odo after he awakens it, leaving Eleanor as his squire. The sword recalls little of its past but knows it has a purpose. The friends travel toward the mountains to learn what is blocking the river, suspecting that a dragon may be involved.
