First Snow

A small girl wakes at night to the sound of the season’s first snowfall. After dressing warmly, she goes outdoors and starts rolling snow into a ball. She pushes it through her yard, into the street, past a train, across a field, and through nighttime woods where animals appear. As the snowball becomes enormous, she reaches a bright white field filled with other children rolling large snowballs and making snow figures. The story follows her dreamlike nighttime journey from the first falling flakes to a shared snowy landscape.
