Chooky-Doodle-Doo
Jan Whiten, illustrated by Sinéad Hanley
A little chick cannot pull a worm from the ground and turns to friends for help. One chick after another joins the line, but the worm seems to grow longer while remaining firmly stuck. The group keeps pulling until a rooster takes a place in the queue. Working together, the birds finally free the stubborn worm from the dirt and uncover a surprise. The story follows the growing group through this shared effort with rhyming, rhythmic language.
