Butterfly Heart

As summer begins, Vilda wants to learn more about her Sámi heritage from her grandfather, Áddjá. An acquaintance’s claim that she is not truly Sámi leaves her confused about identity, especially because her Swedish father and Sámi mother have different connections to the culture. Vilda finds meaning in her late grandmother’s traditional clothing, but Áddjá dies suddenly before he can teach her the language. She then confronts grief, changing friendships, and uncertainty about where she belongs.
