Born to Fly: The First Women's Air Race across America

This nonfiction account follows the 20 aviators in the 1929 Air Derby, the first all-women cross-country air race in the United States. It includes participants such as Amelia Earhart, Marvel Crosson, Louise Thaden, and Elinor Smith, alongside the other competitors. The women competed against one another while also working to establish themselves as pilots. Their stories include the sexism they faced, as well as the determination and camaraderie that sustained them.
