Black Dove, White Raven

Foster siblings Emmy and Teo tell the story of their shared life from the 1920s into the early 1930s. After Teo’s mother dies in a plane crash, Emmy’s mother moves the children from the United States to Ethiopia, honoring a promise to Teo’s mother. There they encounter tensions involving Ethiopia, Italy, government change, and powerful landowners. When Teo’s Ethiopian father is revealed to have been enslaved, Teo is legally enslaved as well and is demanded for a mission before war begins.
