Birds on the Brain

Reeni loves birds and hopes to take part in Bird Count India, held as part of a worldwide bird-counting day. City leaders plan to close a major local park after the previous year’s results showed fewer birds, putting the count at risk. At school, Reeni and Yasmin develop a project about books and birds, while their friend Anil pursues a separate investigation combining karate and solar power. Their work intersects with another local problem: the woman who irons clothes in the neighborhood may have to close her stall because her coal iron is being banned. The projects help address both concerns.
