Beneath

Finn is upset and unwilling to discuss it when Grandpa suggests a walk. Wrapped in a blanket, Finn joins him in the woods and along the shore. Grandpa points out what lies out of sight: roots below trees, fish under still water, eggs beneath a nesting bird, and things whose hidden parts remain unknown. Their walk connects these observations to people, whose experiences, explanations, and emotions may not be visible from the outside. As Grandpa offers understanding, Finn begins to accept the possibility of being known and connected to someone else.
