At Home in a Faraway Place

Lissie travels with her father and grandmother to Guatemala to visit her father’s old school friend Raúl and his family. At first, she cannot speak Spanish and finds the unfamiliar surroundings difficult to understand. As she explores, Lissie takes in the foods, stories, history, sounds, and people around her. She forms new friendships, including one with Flory, whom she hopes to see again after the trip.
