Across the Pond

After an unhappy experience at her American middle school, Callie moves from San Diego to an inherited castle in Scotland. She hopes the move will let her remake herself, but the castle is run-down, cold, and full of critters. A difficult first encounter with the gardener’s granddaughter makes new friendships feel more daunting, and Callie considers homeschooling. Over time, she makes friends and becomes interested in bird-watching.
