A Crow of His Own

Megan Dowd Lambert

Clyde becomes the new rooster at Sunrise Farm, but the other animals still remember Larry, the rooster who used to wake the farm and entertain them. Clyde struggles to make his own crow measure up to Larry’s and tries copying his predecessor’s style, including wearing a costume and staging a show. Eventually, Clyde recognizes that imitating Larry will not solve the problem. The story follows a rooster finding his place among the farm animals by moving beyond another bird’s example and toward his own way of succeeding.
