Write to Me: Letters from Japanese American Children to the Librarian They Left Behind

Using excerpts from children’s letters, this book recounts the experiences of young Japanese Americans who corresponded with librarian Clara Breed while imprisoned in World War II internment camps. After Executive Order 9066 followed the attack on Pearl Harbor, Breed’s young library patrons were sent to prison camps, where the correspondence continued during their three years of internment.
