In nineteenth-century Lithuania under Russian occupation, Audra’s family faces soldiers who demand that people become Russian. Lithuanian books, religion, culture, and language have been prohibited. Audra discovers that her parents are involved in a dangerous secret effort to move books. When Cossacks arrive at the family farm in June 1893, she must flee with a package and instructions for delivering it, leaving her parents behind.
